The Challenge...

The property in Wimbledon was being extensively renovated to update the interior while retaining the character. As some parts of the building weren’t being touched we needed to find ways of installing equipment without disturbing the décor.

Entertainment

A multi-room entertainment system was installed, providing music, TV and DVD to the principle rooms. Speakers were concealed in the ceilings wherever possible. The kitchen/family room has a double height pitched ceiling with a dramatic fireplace at one end, providing both an acoustic and aesthetic challenge. Discreet white speakers designed to blend in with the décor were installed in the corners of the room.

Home Cinema

A home cinema, based round a 50” plasma screen, was built into cabinetry. When not in use the doors slide across the screen concealing it completely. As well as providing storage the lower cupboards also house the cinema receiver and a local DVD player. The DVD player can also be accessed in other parts of the house.

Lighting Control

A comprehensive lighting control system was installed throughout the ground floor and master bedroom suite. We specified the Clipsal C-Bus system from Group Schneider as it provides easy to use control combined with industrial level reliability.

The interior lighting was designed by Light Design International in conjunction with Mark Sylvester from Icon Architects. The lighting designers appreciated the flexibility that the lighting control provided, enabling them to be creative without being limited in any way.

Outside

The house has beautiful mature gardens. To make the most of the outside space, weatherproof speakers were installed outside in the barbeque area.
